Heavy snow for northwest Montana
A major winter storm is expected across northwest Montana through early Friday.
An arctic cold front will briefly stall over northwest Montana. Mild and moist air will over run it, bringing heavy snow to northwest areas of the state.
A WINTER STORM WARNING if posted through Friday morning for northwest Montana, including the Kalispell area. Snowfall of 6 to 12 inches, with some areas north of Highway #2 receiving up to 18 inches.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is posted for all the passes of southwest Montana along with the West Yellowstone area. Snowfall of 1 to 4 inches, with much heavier snow at MacDonald Pass.
The front will move back northeast with milder air over spreading all the region late tonight and Friday. Valley rain and mountain snow showers will fall across western Montana. Lows in the 20s in Bozeman and Kalispell to the lower 30s around Missoula and Butte. Highs in the 40s.
A break from the rain and snow Saturday with a chance of showers on Sunday.
