Icy, snow-covered roads impact travel

Snow-covered and icy roads this morning from the Bitterroot Valley north to Canada.

WINTER STORM WARNING until 11 AM for Lolo, Lookout and Lost Trail Passes an additional 3 to 6 inches of snow are possible and for the Thompson Falls, Superior and St. Regis areas where another 1 to 2 inches are possible.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for northwest Montana, including the Kalispell area and all the passes around Butte and Bozeman in southwest Montana. Additional accumulation of up to 1 inch in the valleys and 1 to 3 inches at pass level.

As warmer air moves into the region, the snow will change to rain in the Missoula, Butte and Bozeman areas. Periodic snow and rain Thursday and Friday with highs warming to the 40s.

Arctic air will arrive in the Flathead Valley Thursday. A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued for Thursday night and Friday for 4 to 8 inches of snow in the Flathead Valley.
