Investigation closed after allegations toward Florence fire chief
FLORENCE, Mont. - Update: NBC Montana is digging deeper into this story. We spoke with all members of the Board of Trustees. Some of the board members we talked to did not agree with the conclusions of an investigation, and they believe the allegations against the chief have been played up more than necessary. Volunteers with the Florence Fire Department sent out a public statement leveling harsh complaints against Chief Charlie Lambson. Among those allegations are criminal negligence, unethical use of funds and defamation.
Lambson attended a public hearing Monday evening held by members of the fire department board.
Lambson wouldn't go on camera but he did tell us he has nothing to hide and that he has never been charged.
Board members determined Lambson did not misuse public funds. Volunteers say that's not their only complaint.
"What we really have is the top position, the chief's position, in my opinion, is a complete lack of leadership," said volunteer firefighter Don Allen.
The future is still up in the air for the Chief.
