Slight chance of snow tonight, but better chance this weekend
A weak disturbance will make its way through the area Thursday night and allow for light snow accumulations over mountain passes along the MT/ID border. 1-3 inches are expected over the high terrain. Valley locations may see a brief snow shower, but accumulations are not expected.
Temperatures tonight will be in the upper 20s to near 30 in west central and NW portions of the state. In SW Montana, temps will dip into the upper teens to mid 20s.
A more significant system is set to move through the area Saturday night and into Sunday, bringing significant snowfall to the mountain passes and possible light accumulations to the valley floors. It will also allow for colder temperatures and gusty winds. Precipitation may start out as rain Saturday but transition to snow by Sunday.
High pressure looks to build back in by the early part of next week, allowing for relatively dry conditions. It will also present a daily chance of valley fog.
