Bear sighted along Highway 93, north of Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont. - The Missoula County Sheriff's Department is reporting a bear sighting.

The overnight shift commander told NBC Montana someone on Highway 93 North, in the Evaro area, north of Missoula, called to report seeing a bear Monday night at about 9 p.m.

Authorities don't know if it was a black bear or a grizzly bear. They say it was not near a home, so no action was taken.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks biologists warn residents to watch out for bears and mountain lions.

They ask people to bring in bird feeders, secure garbage and clean up livestock feed, as bears are looking for food after their winter hibernation.
