Bitterroot Humane Association accepting evacuated pets


HAMILTON, Mont. - The Bitterroot Humane Association is accepting companion pets of people who have been evacuated in the Lolo Peak fire.

Association president Eve Burnsides said she is already getting phone calls from evacuees who need a place to place their animals.

She said the office at 262 Fairgrounds Road is open until 5 p.m. The telephone number is 363-5311.

Burnsides said after 5 evacuees may call the same number and it will be forwarded to a staff member who can help.

The Ravalli County Fairgrounds will accept evacuated livestock like cattle, horses, sheep and pigs.
