Butte High grads ready for next chapter

BUTTE, Mont. - Nearly 300 seniors at Butte High School graduated Thursday night. Graduation is a milestone they've worked hard to get to. ?

"If it wasn't for my family, the support from my friends in the band and our director Mr. Brian Tobin, I don't think I would have gone as far as I did," graduate Duncan Davis said.

Graduation was extra special for Davis because he played in the band at his own graduation. He's looking forward to what is ahead.

"I'm also sad to see so many of my peers that I spent years and hundred of hours with move on and go to their own parts of their lives," Davis said.

Sam Schonsberg graduated alongside Davis. He also plays in the band and was one of the nine class valedictorians.

"I'm a little nervous but kind of relieved. I'm going to miss high school, but I'm also excited to get going with the future," Schonsberg said.

He says the support he's received helped him get to graduation day.

"It was definitely friends, family, being able to reach out to people and not being afraid to ask for help," he said.

Principal John Metz believes this group of seniors is well prepared for life after graduation.
