Butte Police search for armed robbery suspects

BUTTE, Mont. - Two suspects are on the loose after Butte police say they robbed a store owner at gun point Monday evening.

Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester said just after 6 pm, the man who owns the Cards and Coins store on Harrison Avenue reported a male and female came into the store, and the male pointed a large caliber gun at the owner and demanded money.

Lester said the two made off with an undisclosed amount of money and possibly fire arms from the store.

Police found the vehicle they think the suspects used to flee the scene in the Rocker area west of Butte.

Lester said they are investigating both scenes, and are in the very early stages of their investigation. He said they are tracing the stolen items through serial numbers.

The suspects are on the loose, and are considered armed and dangerous. Police hope the surveillance photos they captured will help in finding them.

"The biggest lead we have right now is the surveillance and the still photos we're going to put out," Lester said. "Hopefully someone will recognize the people involved in this."

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact the Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Department at 497-1120 or Captain Jerome McCarthy at 497-1124.
