Butte-Silver Bow police investigate Acoma Lounge shooting
BUTTE, Mont. - Butte-Silver Bow police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting.
Sheriff Ed Lester said it happened at the Acoma, Lounge located at 60 East Broadway St. around 2 a.m.
It was a close call, according to Lester. Bullets just missed a Butte bouncer.
Lester said the suspect is 31-year-old Sarah Baldwin, from Butte.
Baldwin is charged with two counts of attempted deliberate homicide and two felony counts of criminal endangerment.
Lester said Baldwin came out of the Acoma bathroom and fired a shot at the bouncer that left a hole in his shirt but didn't hit him.
Authorities said she had a semiautomatic pistol.
A female bartender, investigators said, tackled Baldwin.
Lester said police were in the area and responded before dispatch was called.
Officials said no one was injured.
"We're still just trying to figure out what led to this," Lester said. "That's the biggest thing that's a mystery right now. There doesn't seem to be any words exchanged between Ms. Baldwin and any other persons in the bar that we're aware of, so we'll be talking to people who were in the bar throughout the night to see if there were issues."
Lester says Baldwin does not have a criminal record he's aware of.
Baldwin made an appearance in Justice Court Monday.
