Earthquakes rattle area near Flathead Lake Sunday
MISSOULA, Mont. —
The US Geological Survey in Montana wants anyone who felt today’s earthquakes to report it.
Two quakes were recorded near Flathead Lake just before noon. Both were about three miles away from Somers.
One was a magnitude 3 and the other a 2.8.
Bigfork resident, David Glass, was in a church service at the Baptist Church off Highway 35 when it happened.
“It sounded like a nearby small explosion that shook things and then it was quiet for another few minutes and then there was another one that was just a little bit weaker and it was like an explosion of some kind,” said Glass.
Glass said he hadn’t felt an earthquake in the area since the one in Lincoln in July.
Anyone who felt the quake can fill out the USGA form here.
