Fire crews in western Montana depart to fight California wildfires
MISSOULA, Mont. - The Bitterroot National Forest sent a fire crew to help fight wildfires in California.
A 20-person crew left Thursday morning for the NEU Wind Complex fires near Grass Valley, CA.
The crew is made up of firefighters from the Stevensville, West Fork, and Darby/Sula Ranger Districts as well as helitack, helicopter-delivered fire resources, crew members and students from the Trapper Creek Job Corp Center.
The fires have consumed over 17,000 acres and burned 217 structures.
The fire crew will spend two weeks fighting the fires in California.
