Flathead County authorities search for suspects after high-speed chase
KALISPELL, Mont. - Flathead County authorities are still searching for two suspects involved in a high-speed chase through Hungry Horse Tuesday.?
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said the pair led authorities on the chase after authorities tried to pull their car over for stolen plates.
Curry described it this way: "We did have a fairly short vehicle pursuit in Hungry Horse last night. A deputy ran a license plate on a vehicle, and it turned out to belong on a stolen vehicle, which wasn't the one the plates were on. He attempted to stop it, they ran."
Because this is an active search and ongoing investigation details are limited, including the suspects' identification.
Assisting local authorities were the Two Bear Air rescue helicopter and Border Control K9 units.
Hungry Horse residents we spoke with said they were shocked and worried when they saw the number of law enforcement responders in the area.
"We came home from seeing Wonder Woman," said Buddy Willow. "We saw a highway patrolman sitting there and a helicopter just kind of circling around."
NBC Montana asked resident Greg Wallack if he's concerned about wanted suspects at large in the community. "Yeah, it does concern me," he said. "Yeah, you got a lot of criminals. I mean it's Hungry Horse. It's such a small town. We have people here that are on the run, hiding out."
Despite the fact that the suspects haven't been caught, Curry emphasized he doesn't believe they're a threat to the community.?
