Governor signs executive order to aid Beaverhead Co. in managing Rainbow Gathering

DILLON, Mont. - The following is a press release from Beaverhead County Disaster and Emergency Services:

The Rainbow Family of Living Light group chose the Saginaw Creek area on Forest Service land in Beaverhead County for their annual gathering. Large numbers of the group began entering the County on June 16, 2013.

On June 17, 2013 Beaverhead County Commission signed Emergency Resolution 2013-13 to implement the County Emergency Operations Plan to help manage and mitigate the growing effect of the Rainbow population.

On June 24, 2013 Beaverhead County formally requested a State Declaration from the Office of the Governor.

On July 1, 2013 Beaverhead County Commission voted and invoked an emergency two mill levy. Shortly after, Governor Bullock signed Executive Order 07-2013 to provide state assistance to Beaverhead County.

The growing cost of the newcomers to the area has strained local resources, with emphasis on law enforcement and healthcare.

Beaverhead County will continue to provide the best service possible to our community without interruption. We will continue to work diligently in managing the growing effects on the County due to the Rainbow gathering.
