Heavy snow Thursday through early Friday
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES have been issued for Thursday through early Friday for all areas west of the divide, except the Missoula and Bitterroot Valleys. WINTER STORM WARNINGS are posted from Glacier Park south to the Swan Lake area and the Lower Clark Fork region, which are the mountainous areas west of Missoula including Lookout Pass.
Snowfall of 3 to 6 inches in the Kalispell and Butte areas. Snowfall will be impressive in the mountains of northwest Montana where 1 to 2 feet are likely, with some areas in Lincoln County receiving up to 30 inches.
Elsewhere, where there are no advisories, snow is still expected. Snowfall of 2 to 4 inches in the Bozeman area by Thursday night and early Friday. Missoula may receive 1 to 2 inches of snow late Thursday through early Friday.
A huge push of Pacific moisture will bring the heavy precipitation. A brief change over to rain is expected in many lower elevations Thursday afternoon before changing back to snow Thursday night and ending early Friday.
Lows in the 10s in the Butte and Bozeman areas to the 20s in Missoula and Kalispell. highs in the low to mid 30s. Highs in the 30s again Friday through the weekend.
Mostly dry and calm this weekend with the next chance of snow next Tuesday.
