Hellgate seniors give moment of silence during graduation
MISSOULA, Mont. - Hellgate was the last Missoula high school to walk across the stage today. Their ceremony began with a moment of silence.
Missoulians are familiar with the story of Hellgate senior, Chance Geery who was hit by a car on April first.
During the last month and a half of school, many students rallied for justice in Geery's name.
Others simply gathered in memory of their lost friend and family member.
At this graduation it was clear that when one student is lost, the whole school feels that impact.
"It's really hard for the whole clss to have to bare the whole ordeal of losing our fellow members and our classmates," said Hellgate senior Garett Hueffed. "It does really remind us of exactly how quickly things can change for the better or for the worse."
The woman convicted of hitting and killing Geery was sentenced to house arrest a few weeks ago.
