Kalispell School Board rejects Flathead High School cell tower
KALISPELL, Mont. —
The Kalispell School Board voted 7-1 against a contract with Verizon to lease a cell tower on Flathead High School.
The decision was made in their regular meeting Tuesday night. Prior to the meeting the board heard public comment from about 20 residents about the proposed cell tower.
They also listened to a short presentation from Verizon representatives.
The public comment period on the cell tower was extended to June, but Kalispell Public Schools Superintendent Mark Flatau told NBC Montana the board could reject the plan if they felt strongly enough.
Flatau said the board felt they heard all the public comment they were going to receive and deliberated for quite some time before making their decision.
A Facebook group and petition were started by a Flathead High School student against the tower.
