Lightning strikes Three Forks woman
BOZEMAN, Mont. - Lightning is proving to be dangerous in southwest Montana. A Three Forks woman is recovering after she was hit by lightning.
The woman was struck Wednesday afternoon on the 1600 block of Skyline Road north of Three Forks.
The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office tells NBC Montana she suffered minor injuries to one of her legs as a result of the strike. They say she was transported to Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital for treatment.
NBC Montana reached out to American Medical Response for more information on the incident but have not received further details.
Lightning is a major cause of storm related deaths. According to weather.com, when you weigh the population of each state, Wyoming has the highest lightning death rate per million. That's followed by Colorado and Montana.
