BOZEMAN, Mont. - A 48-year-old man was injured in a snowmobile accident Saturday afternoon.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office says the man broke his back after he landed hard from an attempted jump off a 7-foot cornice.

Officials received a 911 call just after 12 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Gallatin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue West Yellowstone Division responded to the crash. The crash happened on the Two Top Trail southwest of West Yellowstone.

Rescuers say they took the man to the hospital in Rexburg, Idaho. He was later moved to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for additional medical attention.

In a press release Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin says he would like to remind snowmobilers to be careful when they're off-trail and to know their limits.
