Man wanted in Bozeman flees country

An arrest warrant has been filed for a man who court documents say sexually assaulted his female roommate. Sami Almezaini was a Montana State University Student in the United States on a school visa.

According to court documents, his female roommate told Bozeman police that on July 20, 2017, she and Almezaini were with friends at Music on Main. She told police she became intoxicated at the event.

That is when police say Almezaini ordered an Uber to take them home. The victim told police Almezaini assaulted her in their home.

The victim went to police seven days later, according to the warrant. Investigators went to the home to collect evidence and found hair on the victim's bed that matched Almezaini. Documents say police tried to arrange an interview with Almezaini but he did not show up. The interview was rescheduled for the next morning.

When he failed to show up again police started looking for Almezaini. Court documents say that two of Almezaini’s friends drove the suspect to Seattle to flee the country.

Police reports show he traveled to Mexico, where he took a flight to Saudi Arabia. According to police interviews, Almezaini had told friends that he had assaulted the victim and needed to leave the country before police caught him.
