MCPS board approves 2 levy requests
The Missoula County Public Schools Board of Trustees signed off on requesting two levies at Tuesday’s trustee meeting.
The school district wants $305,008 dollars for elementary schools and $169,994 for high schools.
The discussion for the levies took well over an hour as trustees were in talks about the verbiage. Hatton Littman, the director of communications, says it’s all because the district is trying to be transparent.
“A permissive levy are levies that the school districts have to increase or reduce without voter action, so we had a lot of discussion tonight that we had to project something right now in March that often trustees are not discussing until August, until they approve the full budget,” said Littman.
The trustees approved the request for the elementary levy 4-2 in favor and the request for the high school levy 7-2 in favor.
Those levies will be on the ballot in May.
