Names released in shooting involving deputy
MISSOULA, Mont. - The Missoula County Sheriff's office has released the name of the deputy involved in a shooting during a drug investigation. Deputy Jonathan Stineford has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the investigation of the shooting on Friday in the parking lot of the Magic Diamond Casino in Missoula. Authorities say 37-year-old Harry Louis Steven VanPelt received an injury to his leg. He was treated at a hospital and released on Saturday, then taken to the Missoula County Detention Center. Missoula County Sheriff Carl Ibsen says VanPelt dropped his hands to reach for something and attempted to flee the scene.
