New brewery, river access point in works on West Broadway
MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoulians may soon be able to access the Clark Fork River and buy a local brew in a new spot on West Broadway.
Robert Rivers and his wife, Fernanda, are planning to open One Nation Brewery in an existing riverfront building at 1151 West Broadway, directly in front of the area where a new river access point and island beach are planned for development.
Rivers says they've worked out a deal with the Missoula Redevelopment Agency worth $112,000 in exchange for a shared parking agreement.
The couple's background is in overseas relief work, and they say they want to bring that experience to their brewery.
"This space will be where we are going to offer our own workshops and educational programs, based on our own experience in conflict zones for more than two decades," said Fernanda Rivers, "and it will also be open to the public."
The couple hopes to start work on the brewery once the building purchase is completed in July.
The city council will hold a public approval meeting next Monday to change the conditional use agreement for the site.
