New turf installed at MSU's Bobcat Stadium

BOZEMAN, Mont. - MSU announced this week the completion of new turf installation at Bobcat Stadium. MSU's Senior Associate Athletic Director Dan Davies said the turf will help athletes perform to the best of their abilities, and update the look of the stadium. The 89,000 square foot turf was finished at the beginning of June.

Davies said his crew started planning about three years in advance for the new turf. MSU's old turf was nine years old. Davies said that the life expectancy of field turf is about eight to ten years.

"It made it the right time for a replacement," Davies said. "We were getting close to the end, and we had the opportunity to replace it with an upgraded version to the field turf to provide more safety and high performance. So the opportunity presented itself." The field's surface is the same kind that the NFL's Seattle Seahawks play on.
