Police confirm escaped rape suspect spotted in Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula police confirmed Thursday a rape suspect who escaped from Bozeman police during an interview with investigators has been spotted in town.

Kevin Briggs has been on the run since early Saturday morning. That's when he walked out of the Bozeman Law and Justice Center after being left alone in an unlocked interview room.

Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh confirmed Kevin Briggs was seen in Missoula Saturday night.

We're told he asked an acquaintance if he could stay with him in town. But officers say Briggs' friend said no.

Welsh says video surveillance shows someone investigators think might be Briggs at the Greyhound Bus station on West Broadway. The video was taken Sunday. Welsh says it does not show whether Briggs got on a bus.

The department is continuing to review the video.
