Sheriff's office confirms fatality after Clark Fork River search


MISSOULA, Mont. - The Missoula County Sheriff's Office confirms one man is dead after an accident in the Clark Fork River west of Missoula.

Deputies tell us two men were working on a structure when it broke and both fell in the river. One man was located quickly.

Search and rescue teams raced to the scene, but the second man's foot was caught under a rock and he was held underwater.

The incident happened near Cote and Cusker Road, about a quarter mile from Kona Bridge.

The victim has not been identified.
