Showery Friday leads into beautiful weekend

A cool and wet morning is likely as widespread rain showers will continue this morning across western Montana. as morning lows bottom out in the low to mid 40s. This afternoon, expect just scattered showers to continue, becoming less widespread as we head into this evening.

Afternoon high temperatures will only reach the 50s and low 60s for the first day of June. Dry conditions this evening and tonight will continue into the weekend as high pressure starts to dominate western Montana's weather once again.

The weekend will be dominated by high pressure and mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s in Butte and Bozeman Saturday to the 70s in Missoula and Kalispell. Warmer Sunday with highs in the 70s in Butte, Bozeman and Kalispell to the lower 80s in Missoula.

The next chance of rain will occur Sunday night and into Monday. After that, much of next week appears to be dry with high temperatures into the 70s.

Most area rivers are forecasted to rise slightly this weekend, but then start receding to below flood stage by early to midweek next week.

FLOOD WATCH for Silver Bow, Deer Lodge, Powell, eastern Granite, Broadwater and Jefferson Counties, including the Butte area continues until noon Friday. Creeks that may be affected include Warm Springs Creek in Anaconda and Cottonwood Creek in Deer Lodge.

FLOOD WARNING continues for the following areas: the Clark Fork River above Missoula to Plains. The Clark Fork River in Missoula up to 10.23 feet as of 2am Friday. It will rise to 10.49 feet Saturday before receding again.

FLOOD WARNING for the Big Hole River. Locations that will experience flooding include Wisdom, Melrose, Wise River, Dewey and Glen.

FLOOD WARNING for the Jefferson River. Locations that will experience flooding include Three Forks, Trident, Willow Creek, Cardwell, Lewis And Clark Caverns State Park and Missouri Headwaters State Park. The Jefferson River near Three Forks is at 8.37 feet as of Thursday evening and looks to rise to 8.8 feet Sunday and Monday, which is just under major flood stage.

FLOOD WARNING for the Missouri River near Toston and the Yellowstone River near Livingston.
