Three Forks Fire Dept. welcomes visitors attending Rummel funeral

BOZEMAN, Mont. - In Belgrade Tuesday, fire trucks lined up to escort friends and family arriving for Three Forks Fire Chief Todd Rummel's funeral.

Rummel was driving a fire engine back from Helena, where they had taken it for service.

A veteran firefighter from Pennsylvania, he moved to Three Forks in 2006. He had been with the department for 8 years.

Rummel became chief in May, a little more than a month before the crash.

Three Forks Firefighter Dave Whitesitt said of the scene at the gathering, "It seems like its just one big family, you know? Everybody kind of knows everybody and even the firefighters from Pennsylvania just kind of came in and gave all the firefighters from Three Forks a big hug. And it just seems like it's one big family."

Rummel will be laid to rest Wednesday.

An emergency services procession begins atnoon at Headwaters Stockyard and will travel to the Three Forks High School. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m.
