Warming Center to hold blanket drive, seeks donations

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Summer's not over yet, but there's already a bite in the air, especially come nightfall.

It's why folks with Bozeman's Human Resource Development Council is looking to raise funds so they can get the warming center open on time this year.

Saturday they'll host an open house where you can tour the center on Industrial Drive and drop off supplies like blankets, cleaning supplies and toilet paper. You can also make a donation for their community quilt. With it comes a quilt square with your name. The squares will eventually be sewn together. Folks with HRDC say they opened November 15 last year but they're still thousands away from an early December opening this year. "We want to get the warming center ready to be opened as soon as possible. We've had some funding challenges and so, we need to be able to raise $50,000 in order to open our doors and that gets our doors open December first," explains HRDC Housing Department Director Sara Savage. The event is September 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 2104 Industrial Drive.
