Whitefish Mountain Resort to open 29 runs for opening day

KALISPELL, Mont. - Whitefish Mountain Resort opens Thursday, but a press release sent Wednesday says there will be only six lifts running and 29 trails open to start the season.

Public relations manager Riley Polumbus told NBC Montana the lack of snow in the Flathead would impact what they could open.

This year the mountain is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

With limited runs ticket prices will be reduced. An adult ticket will be $62.

According to the press release downloading will be required on Chair 1, and it will open at 9:30 a.m. The chairlifts that will be open are 1, 5, 6, 7, 11 and T-Bar 2.

Chair 6 will be available starting at 9 a.m. to transport people from the base lodge. The press release says there will not be any runs open to go down to the base lodge, but a shuttle will run to transport people to the Lift Plaza.
