Corvallis American Legion Post 91 has chosen its grand marshals for the Memorial Day Parade in Corvallis on May 28.

All four are WWII veterans. Bill Sperry, Carl Swanson, John Gurtner and Ken Gardner are all long-time Corvallis area residents.

On Wednesday, Sperry, Swanson and Gurtner gathered at the Veterans Monument in Hamilton. Gardner could not attend.

American Legion Post 91's Doug Mason said the post is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

"And the theme," he said, "is Still Serving. We wanted to look back into the community and the people who have been here from WWII, and we just wanted to thank them one more time."

Mason said the grand marshals will lead the parade in vintage jeeps and will be driven down Main Street three abreast.

The Corvallis event is one of the largest Memorial Day parades in the state.
