Bobcat's pick up big sweep against North Dakota
The Montana State women had lost a season high 5 straight conference games heading into their match-up Thursday, against number one team in the Big Sky, North Dakota. They made sure not to extend it any farther, as they would beat the number one team, 78-67.
The Bobcats and North Dakota traded buckets for the entire first half, the largest lead for both teams never exceeding 3 points.
The Bobcat's can thank sophomore Jasmine Hommes for keeping them in the game as she scored 17 of MSU's 31 first half points. The rest of the team went an abysmal 5-22 from the field in the half.
However, Montana State would catch fire from behind the arc in the 2nd half. After going 1-6 in the 1st the team went 5-5 as they continued to build upon a big 2nd half lead.
Senior Ashley Brumwell posted 16 points with fellow senior Kalli Durham knocking down 12 of her own. North Dakota was led by three players who would all score 11 points.
The Montana State men hit the road to face North Dakota, who they had lost to at home earlier this season 72-69. Montana State made it a season split as they beat North Dakota on the road Thursday, 78-70.
The Bobcats went on an early 15-3 run in the first half to grab a 15-12 lead. MSU would head into the half with a 36-25 lead.
North Dakota would chip away at that lead in the 2nd going on an 8-0 run to cut the Bobcat lead to 55-50. Montana State would however hit 11 of their final 12 free throws to seal the road win.
Bobcat senior Flavien Davis led all Bobcats with 19 points. Marcus Colbert would follow that adding 16.
Both teams will face Northern Colorado this Saturday. The women host Colorado at 2 p.m., the men will play in Colorado at 7.
