Brad Wilson makes finals, misses podium
BOZEMAN, Mont. —
Butte native Brad Wilson competed in his second and final qualifying round in the men’s moguls on Monday morning in Pyeongchang.
He needed a top 10 finish in the heat to advance to the finals and finished fourth with a score of 76.33, improving on his score from the first qualifying round (75.25).
But in the first run of the finals, Wilson slipped up before the second jump and only scored 62.74, knocking him out of medal contention.
"I probably should have blown out or something, but I don't know,” Wilson said after the competition. “It's just a matter of going for it, (and) I was hoping for the best. It felt pretty gnarly, and the best that I could hope for was that it looked clean from the bottom. Obviously, I went a little too big on bottom and couldn't quite hold on to that landing, and didn't quite get the score I wanted."
Wilson finished 18th overall in the men’s moguls, improving upon his 20th-place Olympic finish in Sochi four years ago.
