Knee injury wipes out Kayleigh Valley's season again
MISSOULA, Mont. - Just over a month before the season begins, the Lady Griz basketball program made a heart-breaking announcement on Wednesday. For the second year in a row, star player Kayleigh Valley has been ruled out for the season.
Exactly one year ago this week, Valley tore her ACL in practice and was lost for the season, taking a medical redshirt for her senior year.
During this past Friday's practice Valley reinjured the same knee and an MRI on Tuesday revealed that it will once again cost her the entire season.
During her junior campaign for Montana, Valley was a unanimous first-team all conference player averaging nearly 22 points per game. The Spokane, WA product set a program record with 678 total points that year, the third-highest total in league history.
The loss of Valley means Montana will once again be very young. Alycia Harris, formerly Alycia Sims, and Mekayla Isaak are the only seniors on the roster heading into the new season.
The Lady Griz will open their regular season November 13 on the road at Wyoming.
