MSU women reach Big Sky title game with win over E. Washington
MISSOULA, Mont. - The Big Sky regular season champion Montana State Bobcats women's basketball team was able to avoid an early exit in this year's postseason with a first-round win. Now the team is headed for the conference championship in Reno, Nevada, after a 61-59 win over Eastern Washington.
It was a back-and-forth game until the final buzzer on Friday.
The Bobcats trailed by 5 points after three quarters of play. The final quarter was all MSU.
The big comeback was capped off by Annika Lai, who sank the Eagles with a successful jump shot with 3 seconds to play, giving the Cats the 61-59 lead.
After an Eastern Washington timeout, the Eagles last-second shot attempt was no good, and Montana State advances.
The championship game tips off Saturday at 1:05 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
