Anthony Franze joined the NBC Montana team in September 2017 as the weekend meteorologist. He graduated from Valparaiso University with a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology. Anthony gained experience in broadcast meteorology during an internship at KTEN News in Denison, Texas.
Wanting to branch out, Anthony decided to move to Montana, where he says learning how to forecast for a mountainous region has been challenging but rewarding.
Anthony grew up in Gunter, Texas, a small town north of Dallas. Anthony’s interest in the weather started there, where he experienced a wide variety of weather conditions. Some weather conditions that have fueled Anthony’s passion for weather include heavy snowstorms and severe thunderstorms.
During college Anthony enjoyed a very active lifestyle. He was a member of the Valparaiso University men’s track team, competing in the 100m and 200m events. He posted the team’s top times for those events in both 2014 and 2015. He was also a member of a student chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the school’s storm chasing team.
Anthony loves the outdoors and enjoys running and going for hikes on any one of Montana’s beautiful trails. He is also looking forward to skiing for the first time this winter. Anthony enjoys going back home to Texas to visit his family and is an avid fan of the Texas Rangers.
Anthony is happy to be a part of the NBC Montana team and is looking forward to providing a reliable forecast for western Montana. ??
