Maritsa Georgiou returns to NBC Montana after four years at home with her young son. Her broadcast career started here in 2006, when she was a senior at the University of Montana School of Journalism.
She grew up in Minneapolis but has deep roots in Montana. Her great-grandparents were ranchers who homesteaded on the Mission Range at the turn of the century. Her mother grew up in the Flathead Valley, where her grandma and dozens of other relatives still reside. Her grandfather was a television meteorologist whose first station was also KECI in Missoula.
Maritsa has anchored our former KCFW newscast and NBC Montana Today. You can now catch her reporting during the week and anchoring our evening shows Friday and Saturday. She has a passion for telling stories that make a difference. The 2017 wildfire season had a huge impact on the way she approaches the news.
She is married to a Whitefish High alum, and they have a 6-year-old son and two spoiled-rotten dogs. She loves traveling, reading, DIY home renovation projects and binge-watching television shows in bed.
