State trust lands closed due to Rice Ridge Fire
MISSOULA, Mont. - The Blackfoot-Clearwater Wildlife Management Area and other state trust lands parcels east of Highway 83 and north of Highway 200 are closed due to the Rice Ridge Fire burning near Seeley Lake.
Officials from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation say extreme fire behavior prompted the closure.
The temporary closure will be in effect until conditions improve.
The following is a press release from the Montana DNRC:
Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation issued a temporary emergency site-specific closure of State trust lands to general recreation use due to extreme fire conditions and the direct proximity to the Rice Ridge Fire.
The closure applies to State trust lands parcels within the Blackfoot-Clearwater Wildlife Management Area and other State trust lands parcels east of Hwy 83 and North of Hwy 200. The closure will be in place until emergency conditions have ceased.
Officials say this temporary emergency closure will help reduce the potential for new fire starts and reduce risk to hunters and other recreationists.
