In an inspiring display of bipartisanship, President Trump, Democrat governor of California Jerry Brown, and Democrat governor-elect Gavin Newsom recently visited parts of California that have been decimated by the wildfires that are raging throughout the state.
The wildfires in both the northern and southern parts of California, have destroyed nearly 400 square miles of land and claimed approximately 80 lives.
While the president’s initial response to the wildfires on Twitter drew some criticism, President Trump and his administration have fully sprung into action in dealing with the fires and their aftermath.
The President Trump quickly signed a declaration giving the state of California significant additional federal funding and resources to combat this natural disaster.
That move, along with the president’s trip to California, earned him praise from a frequent critic of the Trump administration in Governor Jerry Brown who said about President Trump that “He’s got our back.”
The image of our republican president standing alongside two democrat leaders of California is a strong reminder that human issues exist that transcend politics, and that despite any political disagreements we all care about our country and its citizens.
Here’s the bottom line: Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all those affected by the disastrous wildfires ravaging the beautiful state of California.
