MISSOULA, Mont. — Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton has identified a 15-year-old male as the suspect responsible for a threat to the Stevensville School District.
In a press release, Sheriff Holton said the suspect sent text messages Thursday night threatening to bring a firearm to Stevensville High School.
Another juvenile told an adult about the messages, who then reported it to the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office and Stevensville schools.
A press release from the City of Stevensville said authorities arrested the suspect early Friday morning.
Sheriff Holton said that the juvenile does not pose a threat to the students or the Stevensville community.
He says that the juvenile is the only suspect in the incident and they have no reason to believe anyone else is involved.
In the press release, Sheriff Holton said the following:
"This is not the first incident in Ravalli County here our kids do the right thing by letting authorities know when a threat is realized. Over and over again, our kids and our school distrcts show us they are invested in their safety and the safety of our schools by bringing the information forward to be investigated before a tragedy occurs."
Additional law enforcement will be on school campuses throughout the day Friday.
