Police in Billings are searching for two women as they investigate an assault on a female member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council and a man at a downtown hotel.

The family of Silver Little Eagle said she was hospitalized after the May 16 assault.

Police on Tuesday said Little Eagle and a 31-year-old man were assaulted at a downtown hotel and investigators were searching for two women, ages 25 and 27, for questioning.

Police said it is believed there is a partner family member association between the male victim and the 27-year-old person of interest.

Officers said it did not appear to be a racially motivated crime.
