Controlled burn underway on Mt. Sentinel
MISSOULA, Mont. —
A controlled burn began today on Mt. Sentinel and will continue until May 22.
City contractors will be burning logging debris on the southwest face of Mt. Sentinel from today May 17 to Tuesday May 22 weather forbidding. The contractor has an active burn permit and local services are aware of the activity.
This project is a joint venture between the city and the University of Montana to thin almost 70 acres of forest on top of Mt. Sentinel. The project is fully funded by a $67,000 grant awarded by the DNRC.
