BOZEMAN, Mont. — Chilly weather is helping Montana firefighters.
The Wigwam Fire forced evacuations earlier this month and burned a little over 4,000 acres. Crews now report 100-percent containment on the blaze.
The nearby Monument Fire stands at just over 6,600 acres and is considered 56 percent contained.
Both fires received nearly a quarter of an inch of rain Monday, which officials say slowed fire growth significantly.
Due to the recent precipitation and cooler weather conditions, Stage 1 fire restrictions for the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest will be rescinded Wednesday.
Although Stage 1 fire restrictions will be lifted, visitors to the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest are reminded to continue to be careful with fire.
