Every fan crowded into the gym at Flathead High School to watch the basketball double-header Thursday night.

Nearly every seat was full, and several people wound up standing, but the student sections were on their feet the whole time.

Varsity girls were first to play, followed by varsity boys.

The games created a lively atmosphere and brought out lots of cheering from both sides.

Fans were decked out in their school colors, and some even dressed up in costume for the occasion.

Trae Vasquez told NBC Montana about 1,000 people came to the games, and he could feel the heat in the gym.

“I think it’s cool that the whole town gets to come together as one and, you know, cheer for their own schools,” said Vasquez. “It's all in good fun. I mean obviously we want to beat each other on the court and on the field and what not, but just getting everyone rowdy and getting everyone here, I mean there is probably over a thousand people here. So just having that atmosphere is super fun for the kids, super fun for the players, and it’s just awesome.”

In just three weeks the exciting atmosphere will all happen again as Flathead goes to Glacier for their second matchup this season.
