Hunter kills grizzly near Raynolds Pass

MISSOULA, Mont. — Idaho Fish and Game reports a hunter shot and killed a large grizzly sow in self defense near Henrys Lake, located about 17.5 miles west of West Yellowstone.

Game wardens say the grizzly charged the elk hunter northwest of the lake. The hunter was moving through heavy timber on Saturday, when the bear charged from the brush. The hunter was able to fire his sidearm several times.

The bear died. No human injuries have been reported. Idaho Fish and Game determined the hunter acted in self defense.
