Late voter registration numbers strong in Ravalli Co.

Ravalli County is seeing a good many voters coming into election headquarters for late registration or to obtain absentee ballots.

As the countdown to Election Day gets closer, Ravalli County voters are showing up in strong numbers at elections headquarters.

Voters who are registering late or want to update their registration now have to come in person. Tuesday was the last day voters could register by email or fax.

Wednesday brought a steady stream of voters.

Some are coming in to check their registration. Others are asking for absentee ballots. Many are voting early.

Hamilton resident Cheryl Looysen voted early after doing her homework for months.

"I've been listening to all the ads over the last few months and read the booklet that was sent out, and I've gone online," she said. "Over the last few months my husband and I have been talking about it, so that's why I was ready to vote today."

Voters can obtain absentee ballots until noon the day before Election Day.

Ravalli County Elections Supervisor Regina Plettenberg said her office will mail 15,000 absentee ballots to Ravalli County voters on Friday.
