LifeCenter Northwest and SightLife celebrate organ donation
MISSOULA, Mont. —
Life Center Northwest and SightLife partnered to hold their annual celebration of organ, eye, and tissue donations today, June 10th in Missoula. The event seeks to celebrate, honor and bring together Montana donors, their families, transplant recipients, medical staff and those still on the wait-list.
“Every act of kindness creates a ripple” was the theme of this year's celebration. The theme seeks to highlight the impact a small act of kindness brings to a community.
“This event itself is exemplary of the ripple effect and the number of people who are touched by the generous gift of sight,” says Claire Bonilla, CEO of SightLife. “Together, we’re transforming lives and that is truly something to celebrate.”
According to Life Center Northwest, Montana is among the highest percentage of registered organ donors in the nation but the center says there is always more to be done. Approximately 215 Montanan's are currently waiting on a life saving organ transplant and approximately 170 need a corneal transplant.
You can register to become an organ donor through the Montana Motor vehicle division or online at www.lcnw.org.
