Man who walked on Old Faithful faces several charges
MISSOULA, Mont. —
Gabriel Villalva was caught on camera trespassing at Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park Friday.
Villalva is facing several charges in U.S. District Court in Wyoming.
Villalva faces the following charges:
- Foot travel in all thermal areas and within Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails.
- Interfere with agency function - Violate the lawful order of a government employee or agent.
- Interfere with agency function - Threaten/resist/intimidate/intent interfere with a government employee.
- Disorderly conduct - creating/maintaining hazardous condition.
His court date is scheduled for November 8th at the Yellowstone Justice Center.
Last month, a man was caught on video taunting a bison in YNP. He was sentenced to 130 days in jail for taunting the bison, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
In 2016, a group of five were charged with disorderly conduct after they were spotted walking on the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park.
Also in 2016, a 23-year-old man died after he fell into a hot spring in the Norris Geyser Basin area and walked about 220 yards away from the boardwalk near Pork Chop Geyser.
