BUTTE, Mont. — A Butte woman who went missing over the weekend was found dead Monday morning, according to police.
Officials say the 27-year-old woman’s parents came into the police station on the afternoon of Dec. 16 to report her missing.
The parents told police she was missing from the Pipestone area and was last seen on the night of Dec. 14 around 11 p.m.
Undersheriff George Skuletich tells NBC Montana at around 2:30 a.m. Monday an officer saw some tire tracks going off the interstate near Father Sheehan Park and Blacktail Creek.
That officer located the vehicle upside down in Blacktail Creek. Skuletich says the officers efforts to get inside the vehicle were unsuccessful.
Emergency responders were called and were able to locate the woman in the backseat of the car. She was found dead.
Skuletich says Montana Highway Patrol is handling the investigation, which is still ongoing.
