MISSOULA, Mont. -- On Thursday, Missoula County commissioners sent President Donald Trump’s campaign a bill for costs incurred for Trump’s rally in October.
Last week commissioners discussed a new policy that would require political events in Missoula to repay the county for services.
The letter to Trump states costs totaled nearly $13,000 for public safety staffing.
“Events hosted by political campaigns are becoming more common and currently local property tax payers shoulder the burden of these costs,” the letter reads.
The county is requesting $10,835.41 for officer salaries, $1,059.26 for dispatcher salaries, $693.72 for Office of Emergency Management salaries and $334.43 for miscellaneous expenses.
Great Falls reported Trump's visit to that city cost $40,000, and Billings reported $35,000. Commissioners said Cascade County requested they be reimbursed but were not.
