MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula County may adopt a climate action resolution Thursday.
The resolution includes a goal of carbon neutrality for county operations by 2035, as well as an interim goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 30% below 2016 levels by 2025.
Officials are looking at emissions from county buildings and facilities, vehicles, water and wastewater treatment facilities and employee commuting.
The county is working with the City of Missoula on an eventual goal of 100% clean electricity.
One commissioner says Montana needs to shift to cleaner electricity sources for communities to reach climate goals.
Thursday's public meeting gets underway at 2:00 at the Missoula County Courthouse Annex in downtown Missoula.
